The O-Shot®for Urinary Incontinence and Sexual Wellness
Symptoms of Urinary Incontinence and Sexual Dysfunction
Urinary incontinence affects millions of women. The experiences of pregnancy and child birth can weaken bladder muscles. Hormonal changes in menopause can further weaken bladder and vaginal muscle tone, causing involuntary urinary leakage called incontinence. Sometimes incontinence occurs during activities such as coughing, sneezing, running, or lifting. (Stress incontinence) Sometimes women experience urinary leakage just thinking about urinating, and can have trouble getting to a bathroom before leakage occurs. (Urge incontinence) These symptoms often result in women altering their lifestyle, limiting their physical activities and social interactions due to embarrassment and frustration surrounding their urinary leakage.
50 percent of women will experience some degree of sexual dysfunction in their lifetime! Hormonal changes, oral contraceptives, and structural changes vaginally after childbirth can create a variety of symptoms including a weakening of the vaginal and pelvic muscles, decreased vaginal lubrication, a decrease in sex drive and sexual response, urinary incontinence, and even discomfort and pain during intercourse.
The symptoms of both urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction have a strong negative impact on a woman’s intimate relationships as well as her overall quality of life. Many women are depressed and embarrassed about their symptoms. They have been told it is all just a “normal” aspect of “getting older.” They do not realize these symptoms are treatable!
The O-Shot® and PRP
The O-Shot® is a proprietary, clinical procedure using Platelet Rich Plasma to stimulate vaginal and clitoral tissue rejuvenation, resolve urinary incontinence, and restore and enhance a woman’s sexual response. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an advanced cellular therapy using the body’s own cells to quickly repair and regenerate damaged tissue. Platelets contain multiple growth factors that stimulate tissue healing and the growth of new cells. Plasma extracted from a small amount of the patient’s blood is injected into areas of the anterior vaginal wall and clitoris. These areas are numbed with a topical anesthetic cream prior to the injections, so patients feel little or no discomfort during the procedure.
Benefits of the O-Shot®:
- Significant decrease or full resolution of urinary incontinence
- Increased sensation of vaginal and clitoral tissue
- Greater arousal from clitoral stimulation and stronger, more frequent orgasms
- Increased sexual desire
- Decreased pain in patients experiencing painful intercourse
One treatment is generally all that is needed! Improvements in urinary incontinence and sexual response are often seen within a few days to a few weeks after treatment. An additional treatment would be performed after 8 weeks if warranted.
